Even in these difficult cases, remember that in this country the defendant continues to enjoy a presumption of absolute innocence and has the right to request a special hearing in front of a judge - only for bail purposes. Generally, affidavits of witnesses are made at the prosecutor's offices. A stenographer or court reporter is hired to keep a written record of the interviews.
